Newsletter - May 2010Welcome to our May 2010 newsletter. In this issue we'll be talking about tradies down in the Bass Strait earning over quarter of a million dollars per year, as well as our new Facebook page you can join up to. On the insurance front we have some interesting news on a policy which allows you to claim income protection benefits even if you're still at work, as well as some interesting options with regards to paying for your insurance premiums using your superannuation balance. We also have some new partners on board offering great deals for tradies, and our 'Refer a Mate' program is back, where you can pick up $50 for any new clients you refer to us. Tradie News I recently read with interest an article about electricians working on oil and gas platforms out in Bass Strait, and the impressive incomes these guys take home. These guys are really at the top of their game however, with the minimum requirement being dual trades in electrical and instrumentation. Working seven consecutive 12 hour shifts on a fly-in-fly-out roster may not be for everyone, but if you can handle it there's clearly good money available. Insurance News Last week I met with one of my friends from Aviva, who wanted to tell me about some of the features of their insurance policies. An interesting feature which stuck out for tradies was the partial benefit payment on income protection, which means you can make a claim even if you're still able to work. Click here to read more... Yes! The current superannuation rules allow you to hold your insurance within your super fund, with the premiums being paid out of your super balance. This strategy isn't right for everyone, but can be an effective way of funding your insurance if cash flow is a concern. Click here to read more...
